EDUCATION SERVICES
Our paddlesport education packages are based on the American Canoe Association curriculum and may be tailored to meet the specific needs of each program. Programs can run from 2-hour intro classes to specific technique skill builders or multi-day ACA Instructor Certification Workshops. Many of the courses involve participation in the ACA, many do not.
Working with top paddlesport stores and outfitters around the country allows us to stay abreast of the most current SUP technique. Learning and sharing this information helps build a strong SUP paddling community.

Lessons & Assessments
From beginner introductory lessons to advanced board control workshops, Shellback has the lesson plan that will help you get to your next level of SUP paddling skills! Learning correct bio-mechanical technique for good body posture and movement is key to balance and fitness. Understanding the applied physics of board and paddle movement is very important in building your SUP skills. Safety training and seamanship skills also play an important role in SUP skill sets. An ACA skills assessment can be part of any paddler's long term development.
Instructor Training

These workshops will teach the candidate the skills necessary to teach SUP beginner (Level 1), intermediate (Level 2) or advanced (Level 3 Coastal) students using the industry-leading, time-tested ACA system. Certification outcomes are based on the candidate’s performance in a number of aspects, including personal paddling and rescue skills, teaching skills and leadership abilities. Instructor updates, potential Instructor upgrades and Instructor Trainer mentoring can be built into these intense workshops. Level 1 and 2 Instructor Certification Workshops are a 4-day course. ACA Level 3 Coastal workshops for current Level 2 instructors wanting to upgrade are 2 days. Contact us for more info.
Additional ACA fees and requirements apply. See ACA page for details.
